happy birthday kemonokaki!
to kemonokaki and to all of you 🐾
it was an average summer day for most.. but for some.. it was the day that kemonokaki started minting, June 21st .. 7:00pm est. leading up to that date, it was extremely hectic and there were plenty of days where some of us worked for 12 hours per day trying to get it finished by the deadline.. adding last minute traits, making sure there were no mistakes or stray pixels… in general just making sure everything was basically perfect. and i remember being in so much anticipation for people to finally get their hands on them and begin speculating about all of their mints. that might be my favourite part every time.. people's reactions and excitement in the chats. the traction for the mint was so high and intense, which was different than our previous projects- so much so that we crashed scatter! kind of a rite of passage at this point.
on the 23rd, we had the kemonokaki reveal party in a kakizone.. it was so fun, and i loved how excited people always got for those along with all of the prizes. i wonder how many kakizones were held in total, and how many prizes were given away… and a cute thing about the kakizones, is that you guys began pitching in prizes so the wheel of fun would never stop.. ( ´•̥̥̥ω•̥̥̥` )
when the kemonokaki’s were revealed, despite all our best efforts there were still a few mistakes, specifically with the unique nfts. but as usual, everyone was super understanding.. and people were even more excited about the wildcards and being able to get something super super special- which i think might've been a new concept to nfts?
on the same day of the reveal, it was discovered that opensea and magic eden shadow banned us! everyone was rallying on twitter to get their attention to try and have it removed.. but being shadow banned didn’t matter, because just a few days later (June 26th) kemonokaki was already 95 percent minted out !! despite being 69 percent minted that same morning… and then, in just four days total kemonokaki minted out!
i can’t continue discussing kemonokaki without bringing up PUTRID, a truly beautiful person, artist, and friend.. putrid contributed so much of her talents and her special touch to this collection to which I hold so fondly and I know many others do as well. it wouldn't be the same without her, you can see a lot of her unique style shine through with the beautiful kaki’s she designed (my favourite one and probably also kiv’s favourite one.. Lola and.. Fernando). to me, this is might as well be a picture of kiv & putrid together, and no i can't decide who is who!!
i remember we all found this picture so adorable and laughed so hard at the trait name… there are also so many beautiful traits by putrid within the cyclops race which is one of my favourite races personally!

some little tid bits: on the first of July, kemonokaki was no longer shadow banned, appearing on the top of the trending page.. allowing the community began to celebrate.. also for fun, a few days later we held a poll for your favourite kemonokaki race.. and the top winners were dragon and snake race! that’s kind of weird.. very reptilian… but i also love those races too. on the 24th of july, we posted an exclusive open edition onto magic eden, which was a collaborative drawing worked on by kira, kiv, karat, and i (ina) (i broke the “k” name chain….). it was very fun to do, one person conceptualized, some person sketched, one person inked the lines, and one person coloured it, etc etc! can you guess who did what? first person to get it right i will give you .. 5 dollars.
kaki 9/14… and the days the home of oekaki & kemonokaki went dark.. we already have a blogpost on that so i will not go into the details too much again.. since this must be a sensitive and tender topic to many oekaki nation inhabitants and i do not want to further traumatize .. but if you are NOT AWARE please check out this previous post ! although, through all that drama and weirdness i can’t pretend that everyone coming together was not super fun and cool to see.. we survived, never forget! 🔨

through the year we’ve held fun contests / events involving kemonokakis including ones for wildcard concepts, cylo contest, abstract chan, kakiween, the 2024 oekaki christmas bingo, the valentines day ball, love idols collab, dj sessions, kittykaki art club, multiple exclusive open editions, monokuro contest, and we can’t wait to do so much more!
to wrap this up, we want to say thank you to everykaki who was here from the beginning, waiting for the mint, and all of our new friends who made along the way who joined us. you are part of the reason who keep going, we want to make it all worth it. thinking about all of the memories we’ve made and the fun we’ve had makes all of the chaos involving crypto worth it. kemonokaki is a collection in which i am truly proud about, and can confidently say is a perfect collection to me.
despite any hardships, it is something i can truly hold close to my heart and i thank everyone who supported, and continues to support.
